Ever since the birth of my son I have been passionate about pregnancy, childbirth and women’s issues. I worked as a homoeopath and acupuncturist in Australia for 15 years, treating many women during their childbearing years and young children. I worked as a childbirth educator and accompanied and supported women during their births. Spurred on by my dream to offer holistic support to healthy women giving birth in their own homes, I studied nursing, worked for a year in a gynaecology ward and then trained as a midwife. Evolving my skills in both midwifery and natural therapies in that field, I worked for a year in Darwin with lovely aboriginal women, and then travelled through the Americas meeting lots of fascinating midwives and wise women, also having the privilege of being involved in several births.
I found myself in London in 2001 and after working to gain my British midwifery qualifications at Eastbourne Hospital I then moved to London, where I spent 22 months at Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Woolwich gaining valuable experience. Since then I have worked independently, partly at The Birth Centre which is located in Tooting, but also doing lots of home and some hospital births throughout London, often in a self-employed capacity. An advantage of this was that I could fully employ my natural therapy skills. It is wonderful to be able to help women through challenging phases of their pregnancies and births using these skills.
I love working as an independent midwife and believe that with good support most woman are able to birth normally, and find it an exhilarating experience.
I live in South East London with my dog Hana. I have long distance relationship with my husband who is in Cote D’Ivoire at present. I enjoy reading, walking, yoga and travelling.
I would love to discuss your childbirth options with you.
I am also available for homeopathic, acupuncture and aromatherapy massage consultaions.
